Bangolore – Malleshwaram – Srirangapatna – Mysore – Dubare Elephant Reservate – Bangorore

After almost 5 years, we were able to travel to our beloved India again.
Our children are now big enough for us to take a flight. A lot has happened since the last time in Maysore in South India. Our son is now 4 years old and our daughter is just 2 years old.

Bangolore

We start with a flight directly to the capital of Karnataka, Bangalore. Bangalore, officially Bengaluru, is the capital of the Indian state of Karnataka and is known as the “Silicon Valley of India”. The city is a leading center for IT and technology and attracts professionals and companies from all over the world. In addition to its modern infrastructure, Bangalore also offers numerous green spaces such as the Lalbagh Botanical Gardens and Cubbon Park. Historical sites such as the Bangalore Palace and the Vidhana Soudha complete the cityscape.

But much more important for our travel decision is the fact that my loved one’s father lived in Bangalore when he was young and went to elementary school there. So we try to keep in touch with our schoolmates from back then.

From there, we want to visit the city of Mysore again. But first we enjoy the amenities in Bangalore, where we visit our friends.

This time we were accommodated in the Tranditions Club “Bangalore Club”, a private club in the English tradition. There is currently a waiting list of around 30 years for admission. In addition to the tennis court, there is a restaurant, a park, a guest house and a supermarket (from our point of view quite European and the size of a Spar store). Admittedly, we didn’t come across this guest house ourselves. Our friends put us up there. They are members and have the right connections.

The national library and a large park are also very close by. And unfortunately (we only realized this after we had been carrying our sleeping children for quite a while) there are no more cabs or rickshaws in the city centre of Bangalore in the evening. If you don’t take care of a driver in time, you’re simply out of luck.

Malleshwaram

Malleshwaram, a district of Bengaluru, is famous for its lively 8th Cross Market, where fresh produce, flowers and local delicacies are on sale.

And we visited our friends again this time. That’s great: having a beer with P. in peace and quiet in the otherwise so abstinent India or going shopping with J. in peace and quiet because she simply knows exactly where the best stores are.

Srirangapatna

Although traveling in India is often a bit arduous, our trip to Srirangapatna and Mysore was very comfortable despite the rather small children. This was not least due to our friendly friends from Bangalore, who lent us their car, a Jaguar, including driver.

Srirangapatna, a historic city in the Indian state of Karnataka, is located on an island in the river Kaveri and is known for its rich history and architecture. The city is home to the famous Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple, which is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is a major pilgrimage destination.

Mysore

And then we reached beautiful and tranquil Mysore again. Mysore, located southwest of Bangalore, is known for its magnificent Mysore Palace, an impressive example of Indo-Saracenic architecture. The city, often referred to as the “City of Palaces”, also offers other sights such as Chamundi Hill with the Chamundeshwari Temple and the colorful Devaraja Market.

Once again, we stayed in the “old” Dasaprakash, this time right next to the roof terrace, which was a good thing as our older son was able to celebrate his birthday there.

Here in Mysore, our children experience the pleasure of a “tender coconut”, a ride in a horse-drawn carriage, the beautiful palace with its elephants. And of course we visit the Nandi on Chamundi Hill again.

Dubare Elephant Reservate

The Dubare Elephant Reserve in Karnataka, India, offers visitors a unique opportunity to experience elephants in their natural environment. The reserve is located on the banks of the Kaveri River and is known for its elephant care center. Here visitors can feed and bathe elephants and learn more about their care and behavior.

This is also where we meet our friends from Bangalore. We are accommodated in small bungalows.
It’s a dream for the children, everything is very quiet, no traffic noise. And there was even time to bathe with the elephants.

Bangorore

Back in Bangalore, we visited their factory just outside Bangalore with our friends. We had a look at the production facilities, which seemed a bit pretentious. But that was certainly deceptive.
Unfortunately, we flew home from Bangalore to Munich much too early.

Info

This is expressly a private website with private travel impressions that are gladly shared with other people. However, everyone can have different experiences. A claim to correctness and completeness is expressly excluded.

For anyone planning a trip to India themselves, a note: India is very large and a trip through the whole of India over 1 or 2 weeks is not only arduous, but also associated with travel stress. My routes presented here focus more on short tours that can be easily covered within two or three weeks by Indian railroads.
